Medication Management

You Deserve Care That Works for You.

Medication management shouldn’t feel like a battle. Too often, providers dismiss concerns, push meds without listening, or treat a diagnosis like a one-size-fits-all label. That’s not how we do things at Wildwood. You know yourself best, and we’re here to collaborate with you—not dictate your care.

Medication isn’t a magic fix, but for some, it can be a helpful tool—especially when daily life starts feeling unmanageable. If you're struggling with any of the following, a medication evaluation might be worth considering:

  • Brain fog, trouble focusing, or feeling overwhelmed by everyday tasks.

  • Anxiety that won’t quit—racing thoughts, panic, or constant stress.

  • Depression that lingers, no matter what you try.

  • Mood swings or emotional intensity that make it hard to function.

  • Intrusive thoughts or compulsions that interfere with daily life.

  • Burnout, exhaustion, or sensory overload that keeps piling up.

Some people prefer to combine medication with therapy, while others just want medication support on its own. Whether you see a therapist here, work with someone outside of Wildwood, or aren’t in therapy at all, we’ll work with you in whatever way makes the most sense for you.

The right medication doesn’t change who you are—it helps you be more of yourself.

We’re HERE TO HELP YOU discover that.

Meet Marvin – A Different Kind of Prescriber

Medication management should feel like a conversation, not a lecture.

Marvin is a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who believes in breaking the mold of traditional psychiatry. He’s not here to push medication, over-pathologize, or make you feel like a diagnosis defines you. Instead, he takes the time to listen, collaborate, and help you explore medication as a tool—not a requirement, and never a one-size-fits-all fix.

Marvin understands that mental health care should adapt to the individual, not the other way around. Whether you're exploring medication for the first time, frustrated with past prescribers, or just looking for someone who actually listens, Marvin is here to work with you—at your pace, on your terms.

He doesn’t believe in the outdated "just take this and check back in a month" approach. Instead, he takes the time to understand your experiences, concerns, and goals before making any recommendations. For those navigating complex medication decisions, he also offers GeneSight testing—a genetic test that provides insight into how your body may respond to different psychiatric medications, helping to take the guesswork out of treatment and personalize your care.

Marvin also specializes in ADHD evaluations, ensuring an in-depth and thoughtful approach to diagnosing and treating attention-related challenges. His approach is LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent-affirming, nonjudgmental, and centered on your autonomy. No pressure. No assumptions. No invalidation. Just real support, on your terms.

You deserve a prescriber who treats you like a person, not just a prescription. Ready to work with someone who gets it? Marvin’s here when you’re ready.

What we’ll work on

How Medication Management Works:

Medication can be a tool to help manage mental health challenges, but it’s never about changing who you are. We’ll focus on:

  • Understanding Your Needs – Identifying what symptoms are impacting your daily life and what you hope to improve.

  • Finding the Right Fit – Exploring medication options that align with your goals, preferences, and any past experiences with meds.

  • Adjusting as Needed – Monitoring how you feel and making changes if something isn’t working for you.

  • Supporting Your Whole Mental Health Journey – Whether medication is part of your care alongside therapy or a standalone option, we’ll help you feel confident in your choices.

You are always in control of your mental health care. We’re here to support you, answer your questions, and make sure you feel heard every step of the way.

FAQS

Common questions about medication management

  • No, you don’t have to be in therapy to receive medication management. Some people choose to combine therapy with medication, while others prefer medication as a standalone option. If you’re already working with a therapist—whether at Wildwood or elsewhere—we’re happy to collaborate with them, but it’s entirely your choice.

  • Your initial appointment is a conversation, not a prescription guarantee. Marvin, our Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, will take the time to understand your concerns, symptoms, past experiences with medication (if any), and what you hope to gain from treatment. If medication is a good option, he’ll discuss what might work for you and answer any questions you have.

  • Not necessarily. Medication is a tool, not a life sentence. Some people use it short-term to get through a difficult period, while others find long-term use is best for managing their mental health. We’ll check in regularly and adjust your treatment plan based on how you’re feeling and what works for you.

  • You’re never stuck with a medication that isn’t working for you. If you experience side effects or feel that it’s not the right fit, we’ll work together to adjust the dosage, switch to a different option, or explore alternative approaches. The goal is to find something that supports your mental health without making you feel worse.

  • Yes, Marvin is able to prescribe stimulants for ADHD if they are an appropriate fit for your treatment. However, medication decisions are always made based on your individual needs and a thorough evaluation. If stimulants aren’t the best option for you, we’ll explore alternative treatments that can still provide support.Item description

  • Item descriptionWe get it—many people come to us feeling frustrated, dismissed, or burned out from past providers who didn’t listen. Our approach is different. Marvin takes the time to understand your concerns, talk through your options, and make sure you feel heard every step of the way. If medication isn’t the right choice for you, that’s okay too. This is about what works for you, not just following a standard checklist.

  • GeneSight is a genetic test that analyzes how your DNA may affect your response to certain psychiatric medications. By examining specific genes, it helps identify which medications may work best for you, which may require adjustments, and which might be less effective or cause more side effects.

    How does the test work?

GeneSight testing is a simple, non-invasive process. It requires a quick cheek swab, which is then sent to a lab for analysis. Results are typically available within a few days and provide valuable insight into which medications may be a better fit for your unique genetic makeup.

Who can benefit from GeneSight testing?

This test is especially helpful for individuals who:

    • Have experienced multiple medication trials with little success

    • Have struggled with severe side effects from past prescriptions

    • Are interested in personalized medication management

    • Want to explore more targeted treatment options for conditions like depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other mental health concerns

Does GeneSight replace the need for a prescriber?

No, GeneSight is a tool to guide medication decisions, but it does not replace the expertise of a prescriber. Marvin will review your results, discuss your symptoms and history, and work with you to create a treatment plan that best fits your needs.

Is GeneSight testing covered by insurance?

Coverage varies by insurance provider, but many plans do offer some level of reimbursement. There are also financial assistance programs available through GeneSight to help reduce costs for those who qualify. Marvin can provide guidance on navigating coverage options.

How do I request GeneSight testing?

If you're interested in learning more about GeneSight and whether it's right for you, schedule an appointment with Marvin to discuss your options. He’ll walk you through the process and help determine if genetic testing could support your medication management plan.
